Time for another fall-inspired ice cream! This time around, we present (drum roll)... Chai latte ice cream! This deliciously spiced ice cream will transport you to a time of scarves, sweater, blankets, and spiced drinks (aka one of the best times of the year).
When you picture the season of fall, what do you think of? For me, I picture colorful leaves, chilly nights under blankets, and seasonal drinks with plenty of spices! I feel like fall and winter allow us to bring out the flavorful spices that get left on the shelf the rest of the year.
And thank goodness for that. Spiced lattes (or any spiced drink) just provide such great flavor and a real sense of coziness!
I've actually only ever had one chai latte. It was during a time when I was forcing myself to like coffee after having too many late nights working on group projects in college.
I would go to Starbucks and order different drinks on the menu that had a hint of coffee in them, so I could grow to like the flavor. I started with the infamous peppermint mocha, and found that I wasn't a huge fan of the overwhelming peppermint flavor.
The next day, I tried a chai latte. The subtle spices in the latte really won me over. For some reason, I didn't get another one after I tried a vanilla latte (which became my go-to), but I still remember how good that first latte was.
That's why we decided to make the chai latte into ice cream! Thanks to our Ninja Creami, this was super easy. We used our typical base recipe, but instead of using 1 cup of milk, we did 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of chai tea latte.
We didn't make our own chai latte, we bought the Oregon Chai Original Chai Tea Latte at Target. Feel free to try it with your own chai latte mixture!
So if you're a chai latte fan, or you just love warm, spiced drinks, grab a Ninja Creami pint and get spinning!
While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!

Chai latte ice cream brings all the flavor and spice of the fall-favorite drink to the ice cream bowl! By using chai latte, it's simple to make and easy to eat!
To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5
Note: 1 serving = 1 pint
Place 1 tbsp cream cheese in a medium bowl and microwave for 5-10 seconds. If the cream cheese was in the fridge, these 5-10 seconds in the microwave will help soften it up to mix well with the other ingredients.
Combine cream cheese with 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/3 cup granulated sugar. Whisk until the ingredients are mixed together.
Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup whole milk, 3/4 cup heavy cream, and 1/2 cup chai latte.
Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring it does not go over the max fill line.
Freeze the pint for 24 hours, making sure it is placed on a flat surface in the freezer.
After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.
Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Ice Cream" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.
Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.
Now your chai latte ice cream is ready to enjoy!
If you don't like following recipes, don't worry - you can customize it however you want! We personally use oat milk and coconut cream to avoid most of the dairy, and it's some of the best ice cream we've ever had.
