My favorite flavor of ice cream growing up was black raspberry ice cream. It wasn't just because the ice cream was purple (which to my ten-year-old self was a huge plus); it was because of the fruity raspberry flavor.
My obsession also might have stemmed from the fact that I only got to have it once every summer when my family went on vacation to New England, as grocery stores in Tennessee did not sell it. It's true that you want what you can't have.
Either way, black raspberry has remained one of my top flavors to this day!
Since getting a Ninja Creami, raspberry has been at the top of the list to try. Thankfully, we were able to use the same base as our black sesame ice cream, but we were missing raspberry extract. Alex and I were on the hunt for it for a few weeks before finding it at one of our local grocery stores.
One of our favorite ways to try out new recipes is switching up extracts. While there are other ways (that we will probably eventually test) to make raspberry ice cream, this recipe is the most basic way to get the flavor and creaminess!
We threw in some red and blue food coloring to give the ice cream a nice "raspberry" tint, but feel free to skip that step! If you make it following the recipe with no food coloring, the ice cream will end up being more "vanilla" colored.
So grab some raspberries, a Ninja Creami pint, and get spinning!
While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!

Raspberry ice cream provides the perfect mix of fruity and creamy. This recipe uses raspberry extract (available at most local grocery stores) instead of vanilla extract in order to achieve a great raspberry flavor!
To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5
Note: 1 serving = 1 pint
Place 1 tbsp cream cheese in a medium bowl and microwave for 5-10 seconds. If the cream cheese was in the fridge, these 5-10 seconds in the microwave will help soften it up to mix well with the other ingredients.
Combine cream cheese with 1 tsp raspberry extract and 1/3 cup granulated sugar. Whisk until the ingredients are mixed together.
Crush a handful of raspberries (around 6 - 8). I used a mortar and pestle, but you could easily use a spoon. Just make sure there are no large chunks.
Add the crushed raspberries to the mixture.
Slowly whisk in 1 cup whole milk and 3/4 cup heavy cream .
Whisk in a few drops of red food coloring and a few drops of blue food coloring until the mixture is the desired color.
Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring it does not go over the max fill line.
Freeze the pint for 24 hours, making sure it is placed on a flat surface in the freezer.
After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.
Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Ice Cream" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.
Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.
