We've had raspberry ice cream, we've had orange ice cream, now it's time for a combo ice cream! Since raspberry and orange are two of our favorite flavors, we knew this ice cream would be delicious.
And we were right! Raspberry orange ice cream has the perfect blend of orange and raspberry.
During the winter months in New England, it can be tough to think of date ideas that are out of the box. There's always the classic dinner, movie, ice skating date, etc., but Alex and I have been looking for more date ideas that we've never done before. An idea we came up with was going to Stew Leonard's for a date night!
If you've never heard of it, Stew Leonard's is a grocery store with locations in New England where one can find some great meat, local treats, and different food than what can typically be found at a normal grocery store.
So, Alex and I decided that we would go to Stew Leonard's and buy ourselves ingredients we don't typically use to make ourselves dinner!
Another unique thing about Stew Leonard's is the fact that the store is like a winding maze; it doesn't have normal grocery aisles. We walked the entire store and left with many more items than we planned because they just looked so enticing!
One of those items was a raspberry orange. Shaped like an orange, looks like an orange, but the inside has a nice raspberry color and has a slight berry flavor. This was something we had never seen before, so of course we had to try it!
And once we tasted how delicious it was, we used it as the inspiration for raspberry orange ice cream!
This ice cream does require a fair amount of ingredients, but don't worry - the flavor is incredible. So grab your Ninja Creami and get spinning!
While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!

Raspberry orange ice cream combines the delicious sweetness of raspberry with the tang of orange for an amazing, fruity ice cream flavor!
To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5
Note: 1 serving = 1 pint
Place 1 tbsp cream cheese in a medium bowl and microwave for 5-10 seconds. If the cream cheese was in the fridge, these 5-10 seconds in the microwave will help soften it up to mix well with the other ingredients.
Combine cream cheese with 1/2 tsp raspberry extract, 1/2 tsp orange extract and 1/3 cup granulated sugar. Whisk until the ingredients are mixed together.
Take a whole raspberry orange and zest. Also, slice the raspberry orange in half and squeeze the juice into a small bowl.
Collect 1 tbsp raspberry orange zest and 3 tbsp raspberry orange juice. Combine into the sugar/extract/cream cheese mixture.
In a mortar and pestle, grind a handful of raspberries until crushed. You can also substitute a food processor if you don't have a mortar and pestle.
Whisk the crushed raspberries into the mixture until combined.
Slowly whisk in 1 cup whole milk and 3/4 cup heavy cream.
Whisk in a few drops of yellow + red food coloring until the mixture is the desired color.
Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring it does not go over the max fill line.
Freeze the pint for 24 hours, making sure it is placed on a flat surface in the freezer.
After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.
Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Ice Cream" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.
Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.
If you don't like following recipes, don't worry - you can customize it however you want! We personally use oat milk and coconut cream to avoid most of the dairy, and it's some of the best ice cream we've ever had. If you want to try pumpkin spice instead of cinnamon, go for it! You can never have too much pumpkin, in my opinion.
