For as long as I can remember (or I guess as long as my mom has let me drink soda), Shirley Temples have been one of my favorite drinks. The lemon-lime or ginger ale flavor combined with sweet cherry has made this drink a classic that has been enjoyed by many.
In honor of one of the most delicious drinks out there, we decided to make Shirley Temple ice cream in our Ninja Creami!
When I was growing up and my family would go out to eat at a restaurant, I would always order a Shirley Temple. There was just something so delicious about the drink's flavor that kept me coming back time after time.
My favorite restaurant was J. Alexander's in Nashville. When I was younger and would order a Shirley Temple, I came to find out that this restaurant was the best at keeping my drink fully stocked. Anytime my Shirley Temple would get below the glass's halfway point, the server would magically appear with a full Shirley Temple and swap them out.
When my parents noticed, they would look at me and ask if I really needed another. Being a kid, I just told the truth: "They refilled it before I even had a chance to ask. It wasn't my fault."
And so my love for Shirley Temples grew.
When making Shirley Temple ice cream, we tried to capture the great lemon-lime flavor with a touch of cherry. Thankfully, we already had some grenadine on hand, so the recipe was super easy to whip up!
As an added bonus, you can always make a Shirley Temple to drink while waiting for the ice cream to freeze!
So, if you've never had a Shirley Temple or love them as much as I do, give this fun Ninja Creami ice cream recipe a try!

Lemon-lime and cherry flavors are combined in this Shirley Temple ice cream for a treat that'll remind you of your childhood! This recipe is simple and you should already have most of the ingredients in your kitchen!
To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5
Note: 1 serving = 1 pint
Place 1 tbsp cream cheese in a medium bowl and microwave for 5-10 seconds. If the cream cheese was in the fridge, these 5-10 seconds in the microwave will help soften it up to mix well with the other ingredients.
Combine cream cheese with 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/3 cup granulated sugar. Whisk until the ingredients are mixed together.
Whisk in 1 tbsp lime juice, 1 tbsp lemon juice, and 1 tbsp grenadine.
Slowly whisk in 1 cup whole milk and 3/4 cup heavy cream.
Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring it does not go over the max fill line.
Freeze the pint for 24 hours, ensuring it is placed on a flat surface in the freezer.
After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.
Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Ice Cream" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.
Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.
Now your Shirley Temple ice cream is ready to enjoy!
