Now that it’s almost Thanksgiving time, you’ve probably got visions of pies dancing around your head. I know I do.

One of my all-time favorite pies to enjoy at Thanksgiving is apple pie. And now, I can make apple pie sorbet in the Ninja Creami!

Growing up, apple pie was always one of my favorite pies to eat year-round (especially with vanilla ice cream)! There’s just something about the flavor of warm apples mixed with cold and sweet vanilla ice cream that makes it one of the best flavor combinations out there.

One of the best ways to make apple pies is with fresh apples! However, that is not where this recipe is going.

This recipe is for the busy, stressed-out, no time for anything but still wants amazing dessert type of person! All you need is a can of apple pie filling. Seriously, just one can and that’s it. It couldn’t get any easier!

All you have to do is open the can, puree the ingredients to get rid of any large apple chunks, and freeze.

Now that’s what I call a delicious, one-ingredient sorbet recipe!

First Time Using the Ninja Creami or Looking for Tips?

While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!

  • Does it matter what type of apple pie filling I buy? Nope! I bought a can at my local Aldi that had apple chunks in it, and the sorbet came out perfectly!
  • Do I need to add any milk or heavy cream? No! You can if you want it a bit more creamy, but then it starts to move more into “ice cream territory”. The sorbet has a creamy enough texture that I thought it didn’t need any dairy!
  • The sorbet came out crumbly after my first Sorbet spin, what should I do? Now is when you can add some milk! I would add a teaspoon of milk and re-spin. Repeat until the sorbet is the desired consistency.
  • What button should I use to spin my sorbet? I recommend the “Sorbet” button (naturally). Since this mixture is almost all fruit, the sorbet setting will be the best option!
  • Do I need to re-spin my sorbet if I freeze it after spinning? No! This recipe makes it easy to eat leftovers, because the texture is great even after re-freezing. How easy is that?

Ninja Creami Apple Pie Sorbet

Difficulty: Beginner Prep Time 5 mins Cook Time 5 mins Rest Time 24 hrs Total Time 24 hrs 10 mins
Servings: 1
Best Season: Fall

Description

Apple pie sorbet uses a single can of apple pie filling to make a delicious, fall-themed treat! This tastes just like an apple pie but better - since you can eat it like sorbet!

To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5

Note: 1 serving = 1 pint

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Open 1 can apple pie filling.

  2. Using a food processor, puree the apple pie filling until smooth.

Large chunks of apple may cause damage to the Creami blade after being frozen.

  3. Pour the pureed apple pie filling into the Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring it does not go over the max fill line.

  4. Place the pint into the freezer (ensuring it is on a flat surface). Freeze for 24 hours.

  5. After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.

Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Sorbet" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.

  6. Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.

  7. Now your apple pie sorbet is ready to enjoy!

Note

If you don't like following recipes, don't worry - you can customize it however you want! We personally use oat milk and coconut cream to avoid most of the dairy, and it's some of the best ice cream we've ever had.
