One of my new favorite sorbet flavors is here: blueberry lemon sorbet!

The best part about this easy Ninja Creami sorbet recipe is that it only takes a few ingredients and a few minutes to whip up!

The combination of sweet blueberries and zesty lemon really make this blueberry lemon sorbet stand out. They flavors are balanced and bring pure deliciousness to your sorbet bowl!

I’m not going to lie, Alex and I first tried making just blueberry sorbet and just couldn’t crack it. The blueberries themselves had a nice sweet flavor, but the taste just wasn’t strong enough to wow. We knew something was missing, and that’s when we came up with the idea of adding lemon!

Lemon is an easy way to add a zing of flavor, and it goes with most other fruity flavors pretty well. And it definitely spiced up this sorbet and complemented the blueberry flavor perfectly.

When deciding on new flavors to make, Alex and I like to take a walk around our local grocery store and spot the sales. We found a giant pack of fresh blueberries on sale and knew we had found our next sorbet flavor!

Note: I highly recommend this tactic if you’re running short on creative ideas. It also help you try flavors you never would’ve tried in the first place and can be a lot of fun!

For the lemon component of this Ninja Creami recipe, we used fresh squeezed lemon juice. There’s just something about the freshness that can’t be beat!

So if you want a new fruity sorbet to try, grab some blueberries, a Ninja Creami pint, and get spinning!

First Time Using the Ninja Creami or Looking for Tips?

While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!

  • Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh blueberries? Absolutely! Just make sure they are thawed before using them in the recipe. I can’t promise the flavor will be as strong, but it should still be delicious!
  • What should I do if my sorbet comes out crumbly after the first spin? I recommend adding a tablespoon of milk (any type will work) and re-spinning on Re-Spin. Repeat this process until you achieve the desired level of creaminess!
  • What button should I use to spin my sorbet? I recommend the “Sorbet” button (naturally). Since this mixture is almost all fruit, the sorbet setting will be the best option!
  • Do I need to re-spin my sorbet if I freeze it after spinning? I found the perfect way to enjoy sorbet another time is to let it sit on the counter for about 15 minutes, no spinning required. The wait is difficult, but it’s worth it!

Best Season: Summer

Description

Blueberry lemon sorbet is made with fresh blueberries and fresh lemon juice to create the perfect balance of flavors in your sorbet bowl!

To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5

Note: 1 serving = 1 pint

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, squeeze 2 tsp lemon juice from a fresh lemon.

Note: you can also use store-bought lemon juice and skip this step.

  2. In a food processor, combine 4.5 cups fresh blueberries, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 2 tsp lemon juice.

  3. Pulse for around 10 seconds, or until the mixture is pureed.

  4. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint, ensuring it does not go past the max fill line.

  5. Freeze the pint for 24 hours, making sure it is placed on a flat surface in the freezer.

  6. After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.

Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Sorbet" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.

  7. Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.

  8. Now your blueberry lemon sorbet is ready to enjoy!
