What’s one of the first things you think of when it comes to fall?
Besides pumpkin-everything, pies is one of the first items that comes to mind!
Some of my favorite pies to indulge in every year are pecan pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and cherry pie! Since Alex and I have already made pumpkin pie ice cream and apple pie sorbet, we figured next up was a fun twist on cherry pie: cherry pie sorbet!
One of the best parts about the Ninja Creami is the ability to turn almost any food idea into an ice cream or sorbet. This cherry pie sorbet is no different.
Instead of eating a warm cherry pie this fall, why not keep it simple and make it into sorbet? This easy Ninja Creami recipe only has 2 ingredients, making it one of our simplest recipes.
To get the perfect cherry pie flavor, we used a can of cherry pie filling. While some might think it’s too sweet, I thought the flavor was perfect. It’s emulating a cherry pie, so of course it’s a bit sweet!
You can find cherry pie filling at most local grocery stores, sometimes even when it’s not fall. That way, this recipe can be made year-round.
We added some extra sugar to the sorbet, just to make sure the flavor came through perfectly. However, you can skip the sugar if you feel it’ll be too sweet.
So if you’re looking for a new pie treat, give this Ninja Creami cherry pie sorbet a try!
First Time Using the Ninja Creami or Looking for Tips?
While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!
- Does it matter what type of cherry pie filling I buy? Nope! I bought a can at my local Aldi, and the sorbet came out perfectly!
- Do I need to add any milk or heavy cream? No! You can if you want it a bit more creamy, but then it starts to move more into “ice cream territory”. The sorbet has a creamy enough texture that I thought it didn’t need any dairy!
- Do I have to add the extra sugar? Nope! You can leave it out, we added it to make sure the flavor really popped!
- The sorbet came out crumbly after my first Sorbet spin, what should I do? Now is when you can add some milk! I would add a teaspoon of milk and re-spin. Repeat until the sorbet is the desired consistency.
- What button should I use to spin my sorbet? I recommend the “Sorbet” button (naturally). Since this mixture is almost all fruit, the sorbet setting will be the best option!
- Do I need to re-spin my sorbet if I freeze it after spinning? No! This recipe makes it easy to eat leftovers, because the texture is great even after re-freezing. How easy is that?

Ninja Creami Cherry Pie Sorbet
Description
Cherry pie sorbet uses only two ingredients to make a delicious pie-turned-sorbet dessert!
To make this recipe in the Ninja Creami Deluxe, multiply all ingredients by 1.5
Note: 1 serving = 1 pint
Ingredients
Instructions
Open 1 21 oz can cherry pie filling.
Using a food processor or blender, puree the cherry pie filling with 1/4 cup granulated sugar (optional) until smooth.
Pour the pureed cherry pie filling into the Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring it does not go over the max fill line.
Place the pint into the freezer (ensuring it is on a flat surface). Freeze for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer, and plug in your Ninja Creami machine! Time for the magic.
Remove the lid from the pint and grab the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Place the pint securely into the outer bowl and cover with the lid. Once the lid is on, place the outer bowl into the machine, twisting to the right until it locks into place. Press the "Sorbet" button and (try to) wait patiently for the creamy treat coming your way.
Once the process is finished, press and hold the button on the left side of the Creami to twist the bowl to the left and remove it from the machine. Twist the lid off of the outer bowl and remove the pint.
Now your cherry pie sorbet is ready to enjoy!

If you don't like following recipes, don't worry - you can customize it however you want! We personally use oat milk and coconut cream to avoid most of the dairy, and it's some of the best ice cream we've ever had.
