Unlike its berry counterparts, raspberries have that tart punch that makes you pucker as you go for another handful. I like to call these the red-headed step child of the berry family.
All the more reason to make this delicious and fruity raspberry sauce!
Even though they may not taste like the rest, these berries shine through their unique flavor. They’re my favorite berry to add to oatmeal in the morning because they add a whole new layer to anything you can think of!
While I was never a fan of raspberries as a kid, I am a huge fan of them now, and Alex and I love how this sauce came out! It’s sweet and has a tart punch that will have you going back for another spoonful (or two).
Also, I love the color of this sauce! It’s so pretty and helps any dessert stand out among the rest. Because style points count too, right?
It easily adds a layer of color to vanilla, chocolate, lemon, you name it! We personally like adding this sauce to peanut butter ice cream, salted caramel ice cream, and brownie batter gelato.
This raspberry sauce doesn’t just have to go on your favorite Ninja Creami creations! It can add great flavor to anything you can think to pair it with: pancakes, biscuits, french toast, cake, the list could go on!
So if you’re feeling extra adventurous and want to explore a new way to add more flavor to your favorite desserts, grab some raspberries and get cooking!
First Time Making Raspberry Sauce or Looking for Tips?
Making sauces for ice cream (or really any dessert) seems simple, but there are plenty of questions you might have and that’s what we’re here for!
- Can I use frozen raspberries? Sure! You can use frozen raspberries to make the sauce, just make sure they are thawed before cooking with them. We think fresh raspberries provide the best flavor, but we understand sometimes it’s easier to use frozen fruit!
- How should I store the sauce? We recommend keeping the sauce in a jar or container that can be sealed tight. Our favorite is a mason jar, but any container with an air-tight seal will work! The sauce should also be refrigerated.
- How long does the sauce last? The sauce should last for 1-2 weeks if properly stored and refrigerated.
- What can I put the sauce on? You can put it on anything! We love it on ice cream, sorbet, gelato, biscuits, or cake! That’s the best part about these sauces: they’re more than just ice cream sundae sauce!
